Little Hawks Dominate Kennedy

City beat CR Kennedy 68-34

City High blew Cedar Rapids Kennedy out of the water in the state tournament quarterfinal game.

Senior Kiera Washpun carried the team with 31 points, tying the state tournament single game scoring record.

The Little Hawks grabbed the lead right away, going on a ten point run in the first quarter which caused Kennedy to take their first time out. At the beginning of the second quarter the Little Hawks were up 25-6.

The level of play by the Little Hawks continued to escalate from there. City High left the court at halftime with a 22 point lead.

Steals by Joens, blocks by Lorenzen, and more baskets by Washpun in the second half lead the team to victory with a final score of 68-34.

The Little Hawks will play Dowling Catholic High School on Friday March 7 at 1:45 pm.
