1) After an argument with his parents, a 16 year old Californian boy stowed away in the wheel well of an airplane bound for Hawaii.Miraculously, he survived oxygen depletion and temperatures over 65 degrees below zero. After surviving the five and a half hour flight, the boy stumbled out of the airplane and was found by authorities.

2) The crisis in Syria escalated again with accusations of chemical weapons use on the part of Assad’s regime. Reports indicate that an industrial chemical was used on a city controlled by the Syrian opposition. The government is denying the allegations but the White House is investigating the attack. This is happening in the midst of preparations for an election that many view as a bad move.

3) Tragedy struck South Korea this week when a ferry sank off of the country’s coast. Most of the passengers were students, and the drastic death toll is being blamed on crew members who are accused of reckless endangerment. The ship’s captain is facing life in prison.

4) A law in Arkansas requiring photo I.D. for submitting absentee ballots has been struck down by a state judge. After the legislation became active on January 1st the judge struck it down on the grounds that it violates the state constitutions voting requirements.

5) Is another Bush president on the horizon? Politico is reporting that former president H.W. Bush is pushing for his son Jeb Bush, former Florida governor, to go all in for the 2016 presidential bid. Then again maybe not. H.W. Bush’s wife, the former first lady, thinks there have been “enough Bush’s in the White House.”
