Little Hawk Wins 24 Awards in Spring Newspaper Contest & Five for Web
The Iowa High School Press Association recently released their winners of the 2014 Spring Newspaper contest. The Little Hawk received twenty-four awards in total, the most in the last five years.
“I’m really proud of the entire staff for the work we did this year,” co-executive editor Ellen Carman’14 said. “I think these awards reflects the great amount of work we did this year, and I’m glad the IHSPA recognized that.”
The Little Hawk won ten first place awards, nine second place awards, four third place awards, and six honorable mentions. Among the second place winners was Neil Harte ’14, for his art piece “Pride Hawk.”
“It’s pretty cool to see something I drew win an award,” Harte said. “As the year went on, I started getting the hang of things and saw my art really improve.”
