Students were welcomed back from the weekend with motivational quotes. The small pieces of scrap paper were taped up onto all of the City High lockers by Devin Ganka and City High’s GLOW Club.

“I wanted to do something to make people feel good, and to have them know people are thinking about them,” Devin Ganka ’16 said. “We wanted to kick off ally week by doing something positive for the student body.”

Ally Week is a nationwide youth-led empowerment movement against anti-LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) harassment in schools.

“Ally week is more about showing support to LGBT students and having a more positive and safe environment for all students,” Ganka stated.

GLOW Club has been making a recent effort to increase awareness and membership of the club which meets every Friday after school.
