The junior guard set single-game school records for both points (42) and three-pointers made (8).

In the varsity girl’s 76-59 victory over conference-rival Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Joens ’16 shot 8 of 9 from behind the arc, 12 for 15 from the field and 10 for 13 from the line all while grabbing 8 rebounds in the process. Friday was Joens’ season debut after sitting out the first two games due to a MCL injury suffered in October.

“Once the first three went in I knew it was going to be a good night, ” Joens said. “It would never have been possible without my amazing teammates helping me out.”

The next contest for the little hawk girls is at Dubuque Wahlert on Tuesday.
