Dunkin’ With Duncan: BBB

Duncan Forbes, Reporter

As much as I like to talk about Iowa basketball, I also like to talk about the “BBBs” or the best of the bottom of the barrel(credit to Drew Orr for that). These are the worst teams in the NCAA.

To qualify for this list the teams must have under 5 wins overall no matter how many conference wins and more than 20 losses. Here’s my top 8 worst teams in college basketball.

  1. Chicago State (6-22, 2-9 WAC)

Despite not having less than five wins the Cougars are not good. No notable wins and not playing in a great conference, they still have six wins and that’s why they’re the best of the worst.

  1. Marist (5-23, 4-14 MAAC)

The Red Foxes have had an interesting season winning in the non-conference against Fresno State before losing 14 in a row with almost every game being at least a 2 possession game before running off four wins in a row with two being on the road.

  1. Tennessee State (5-24, 2-12 Ohio Valley)

After starting 2-1 the Tigers went on to lose 11 in a row and are currently on a six game losing streak. The Tigers are ranked 342nd in PPG and average less than 10 assists a game. There’s not much of a chance left for the Tennessee State Tigers and it’s about time to start looking forward to next season.

  1. Maine (3-24, 2-12 American East)

These practically Canadians that think they’re Louisianians don’t have much to look forward to in the last couple of games except for next season. The only non conference win the Black Bears had was in OT 82-81 home win against a 10-17 Wagner team. There honestly isn’t much to look forward to if you’re a Maine fan.

  1. San Jose State (2-24, 0-14 MWC)

It has been all downhill for the Spartans since their first game as they started the season 2-10 in the non-conference and have lost 16 in a row and have yet to win a game in conference play, but they still have a chance to win in their final game of the season at home versus UNLV(15-13).

  1. Grambling State (2-22, 0-14 SWAC)

With one of the worst offenses in the NCAA the Tigers average 51.1 PPG (351st in NCAA) and haven’t won since December 6th, 2014. Athletics is not a strong point for Grambling State as their football team hasn’t been impressive and it looks as if their basketball team is headed in the same direction as they have lost 17 in a row.

  1. Central Arkansas (1-24, 1-13 Southland)

The Bears are just plain bad. They had lost 19 in a row before a 70-67 win at home against University of New Orleans(8-15) before they lost their last 5. All I’m saying is that most fans will be looking forward to next season.

  1. Florida A&M (1-26, 1-13 MEAC)

The Rattlers are on a bit of a high point this season as they are currently on a three game losing streak after getting their one win of the season by seven at home versus NCAT(7-21), but before that they had lost 23 straight and not many were very close. Next season the Rattlers could make some noise, but it’s not likely.
