Fantasy Football Report: Week One

Who do you start and who do you sit in week one? Nathan Cremers weighs options in in his fantasy football blog.

With the start of the NFL season this Thursday comes the return of the great American pastime, Fantasy Football. Here are some players I see having a great week one.

Many quarterbacks this week have big projections but I would have to give the nod to Aaron Rodgers. The Bears defense was terrible last season, and they haven’t made any meaningful additions. Rodgers has proven himself to be the best quarterback in the league, and we can’t forget the massive game he put up against the Bears last season, throwing six touchdowns in the first half.

Of the many running backs making their first start of the season this week I look to Jeremy Hill of the Cincinnati Bengals to have a big game. The Bengals go up against the Oakland Raiders who had the league’s 11th worst rushing defense last season. Hill is a powerful running back and should get plenty of carries and opportunities to score touchdowns.

As for wide receivers I predict a big game from Odell Beckham Jr. He obviously showcased his dynamic playmaking ability last year and has proven himself as Eli Manning’s primary red zone target. Against a mediocre Dallas secondary, Beckham Jr. should get plenty of targets and has a chance to put up 20+ points.

Another thing we get to see in this week one is the debut of many rookie players. No one can be sure what kind of numbers they will be able to put up. If any one of them is worthy of the risk of putting them in your starting lineup, it is Ameer Abdullah. He showed big playmaking ability in college at Nebraska and going against the San Diego Chargers, a defense that gave up the fourth most yards per carry last season, he will get a chance to do just that.
