Students and Twitter Mourn Actor Alan Rickman’s Death
Alan Rickman died at the age of 69 on Thursday.
“I think it was a devastating loss for the Harry Potter fanbase,” Miles Morrow 18’ said.
For younger filmgoers who are more familiar with the Potter franchise, Snape’s death was a shock and tragedy.
The British actor was best known for his roles as Professor Snape in the Harry Potter series and Han Gruber in Die Hard. In a statement released yesterday, Rickman’s family said he passed away surrounded by friends and family.
Many celebrities have offered their voices of support and praise towards Rickman.
“There are no words to express how shocked and devastated I am to hear of Alan Rickman’s death,” tweeted J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter books.
English film producer David Heyman also expressed his admiration in an interview with CNN.
“The shadow that he casts in films is a huge one, and the emotion he conveys is immeasurable,” he said.
