Principal Mark Hanson won’t be returning to City High next year.
Last night the school board voted unanimously to accept Hanson’s resignation after a 45 minute closed-door discussion.
Over 20 students, parents, and community members spoke at the school board meeting in hopes of changing board member’s minds before the vote.
“Mr. Hanson is a great supporter of everyone at City High,” Junior Caitlin Clougherty said. “I urge you to take his resignation of the council agenda.”
Others were concerned with the lack of community input in the important decision.
“Any decision that’s made should include the comments and concerns of the parents and students of City High,” Diane Butler, a parent of a City student said. “Which frankly hasn’t been done.”

It’s yet to be determined who will replace him.
