10 Items To Keep in the Car During Winter

As the season changes we often take our safety for granted. Winter rolls around and it is time, once again, to familiarize and ease ourselves into the harsh driving conditions and become well prepared for unexpected scenarios to come.

  1. Blankets – Blankets may be the only source of heat when it comes to an unexpected car malfunction all while being stranded during a snowstorm. Not only that, blankets can be used for convenient times such as when going to the park or attending sport games.
  2. A Change of Clothes – Just like blankets, a spare change of clothes will be helpful when in need of extra warmth or dry and clean clothing.
  3. Emergency Money / Change – Spare change can be used for times when the vehicle can not go the extra mile or two to get home safely or to buy necessary items for survival.
  4. Ice Scraper with a brush – This tool becomes a consistent hand of help to keep the ice and snow off the car.
  5. First Aid Kit -Although essential to have at all times in the vehicle, it provides a quick and easy fix for small injuries from accidents.
  6. Flashlight with extra batteries – When it is dark out and the car decides to break down, a flashlight is a great tool in order to alert oncoming traffic to slow down or proceed with caution or simply to find an item that happens to be under the seat.
  7. A Map – Not the electronic kind, but the paper kind. Paper will not die from battery shortage and it does not require a vehicle to be running.
  8. Shovel – Getting stuck in the snow is not exactly the kind of situation anybody wants to be dealing with. A shovel can help us dig our way out of the snow in less amount of time.  
  9. A Portable Phone Charger – With all the current advancements in technology, we will need our devices to make emergency calls, locate where we are, and help us get out of tough situations quicker.
  10. Multi-tool – A versatile tool that can help us in multiple situations such as cutting the seat belt when the hook will not detach. It is a good idea to keep it in the glove compartment for easy access to the tool.
