The City High Drama board, comprised of City High thespians who have participated in four or more City High shows, sits in a circle of desks in director Troy Peters classroom, eagerly awaiting Mr Peter’s’ decision regarding the board’s proposition to have three student directed shows later in the year. The board previously met in August of 2016 to discuss the possibility of student directed shows that would premier this summer in City High’s Little Theatre.

“Some seniors in the drama board literally asked for it,” Mr Peters said. “They wanted more involvement in the productions, and this was one way to do it — bringing back the Studio Series that had fallen into obscurity.”

Mr Peters approved the idea, and the collection of one-act shows, dubbed “Student Series,” will premiere in the days following senior graduation, May 25th and 26th, with audition dated to be determined. The plays must be under 30 minutes in length, have limited adult language, and must be overall suitable for family audiences. Potential directors should bring their plays to Mr Peters room after school on Friday, January 27th.
