‘Avengers 4’ Title Slip
In early 2014, Marvel Studios told fans that the next two Avengers films would be titled ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Parts One and Two. It would be the biggest Avengers movie yet. Every superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe would come together to fight the Thanos (played by Josh Brolin).
In June 2016, Marvel revealed that the second film was going to be retitled and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ was just going to be the name of the first part. But, both movies would be shooting at the back-to-back.
As of last week, president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige said that the next two Avengers movies will no longer be shot simultaneously because they will be “two very different films”.
‘Avengers: Infinity War’ is scheduled to film from late January 2017-early July 2017 and ‘Avengers 4’ will be filming early August 2017-early January 2018.
Cinemablend was able to chat with Feige. The outlet asked if he could finally reveal the title for the fourth Avengers film because of the filming schedule being changed. But, Feige kept his silence, saying he could not reveal the title because it would be a huge spoiler for ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’
Later that evening, while at the London premiere of ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2’ (2017), actress Zoe Saldana was asked about the Guardian’s involvement with ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’ “I think that the Guardians just shot their part when it comes to ‘Infinity War’, the first part. And we all have to go back for ‘Gauntlet’ later this year”.
Did she just reveal that ‘Avengers 4’ is going to be titled ‘Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet’? This would make a lot of sense because that is the name of the comic where Thanos obtains the infinity gauntlet and starts wreaking havoc on the universe.
Director James Gunn, the filmmaker behind both ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ films, did speak publicly, saying Saldana misspoke and ‘Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet’ is in fact not the title. “My guess is that Zoe just misspoke. I’ll talk to Zoe today, but I would imagine that is just Zoe misspeaking and saying ‘Infinity Gauntlet’ instead of ‘Infinity War’“.
It seems a bit suspicious, if you ask me, because ‘Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet’ would make perfect sense for the name of the squeal.
‘Avengers: Infinity War’ will hit theaters May 4, 2018 and ‘Avengers 4’ will be release May 3, 2019.
