Returning to school on May 1st, students saw new posters and catchy slogans tacked on lockers and bulletin boards, and some students sporting buttons or stickers with the same smiling faces. Campaign season is open again.

“I am thrilled to hear the candidates’ plans and speeches,” said Lucy Wagner ‘17, incumbent Student Senate President. “Some spectacular students are running this year.”

Candidates will be campaigning for only a few weeks, a much shorter period than real presidential elections.

“It’s important that we keep a really focused campaign,” Steve Tygrett, Student Senate advisor, said. “I think having this three-week campaign keeps it focused and allows people to get their message out there.”

Juniors can vote in Student Senate elections. Elections are May 19.
