Seven City High Students Earn National Merit Semi-Finalist Award

September 13, 2017

After taking the PSAT in the fall of 2016, seven City High students have advanced to earn semi-finalist status. Among those selected are Quenton Max ’18, Maxwell Meyer ’18, Gabriel McCormick ’18, Evelyn Smith ’18, Eden Knoop ’18, Mary Liebig ’18, and Jakob Roggy ’18.

Approximately 1.6 million juniors take the PSAT each year, and 16,000 advance to become semi-finalists. These students have the opportunity to continue to become one of 7,500 each year to become National Merit Scholars.

The percentage of semi-finalists in each state is proportional to the number of graduating seniors that state contains. These City High students are among less than one percent of high school seniors across the nation who earned this honor.
