MVC Super meet preview
October 4, 2017
Tomorrow afternoon the boys and girls cross country teams, both ranked 8th in the state, will got to Dubuque to run at the MVC Supermeet. The teams that will be in attendance are Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Cedar Rapids Prairie, Cedar Rapids Washington, Dubuque Hempstead, Dubuque Senior, Dubuque Wahlert, Iowa City High, Iowa City West and Marion Linn-Mar.
For both the JV boys and girls this is their next to last meet, and for varsity this will be a very strong meet, as both boys and girls are ranked eighth in the state and will be competing against other highly ranked teams.
For the varsity boys that means that they will compete against seven of the top fifteen teams in the state. After racing against the number four team last week they are ready to do what it takes to win. They have four runners to watch at this meet. Caden Turnbough, Quinton Max, Robbie Strang and Jonathan Brown. Caden and Quinton have both been ranked in the top 30 in the state so far this season. Strang is currently ranked 29th in the state and Brown starting his varsity career this season, has finished third for City High at there home meet.
For the girls this will be no easier meet. They will be facing off against Five of the top fifteen ranked teams in the state, three of them being ranked ahead of City High. City high has some very strong women runner. Last week Esite Brady got 2nd overall and 1st for city high at their home meet. Other runners to watch are Annalise Rummelhart and Aly Hecker. Both have been running well and have potential. Even with no top 30 runners in the state the girls still have the number 8 spot in the state and are a contender for this state title.
Both teams still have time to improve and much to learn before the state meet.
