The City High Girls Varsity Basketball Team will start their season facing off against Linn Mar tonight in the City High gym.

The Little Hawks ended last season 22-2, losing in the quarterfinals of the state championship to Cedar Falls 48-46. Ashley Joens ‘18 led the team, averaging 21.1 points a game and 52 steals over the entire season. Other leading forces for the team were Aubrey Joens ‘20 and Sydney Schroeder ‘17, who scored 382 points and 107 assists altogether.  

Linn Mar finished last season 10-11, not qualifying for the state tournament. Kamryn Finley ‘18 led the team in scoring, with 14.8 points per game and 310 points total. On defense, Lexi Frese ‘17 lead the team with 41 assists, and Carly Spies ‘18 with 20 blocks.

The Little Hawks next game is against Kennedy High School this Friday, December 1st, in the City High gym.
