“Stand Up, Speak Out” Workshops Help Students Tackle Tough Issues Head-On

Mina Takahashi, Feature Editor

The Iowa Youth Writing Project is holding a free writing workshop for teenagers called “Stand Up, Speak Out” and will address the topic of race.

Teenagers who attend will have the opportunity to engage with educators, activists, and community leaders who work to advocate for racial justice.

This is the first “Stand Up, Speak Out” workshop from this series. At every session, students will be invited to talk with community members and discuss a wide-range of issues that often go un-addressed at school.

This workshop is held at the Iowa City Public Library on Saturday, January 20th from 1-4 pm.
