All Classrooms Receive New Recycling Bins

City High classrooms will now have a small green recycling bin rather than the cardboard boxes that classes have been using. The bins are only to be used for plastics with no liquid. The recycling club is working on solutions for cans, but paper should still be recycling in the cardboard bins.

“The old recycling bins had started to get a little gross,” said Naomi Meurice ‘19. “These should be easier to clean and having something that is clearly a recycling bin will help promote recycling in the school.”

The Special Education program will pick up the plastic every Thursday along with the paper, and will take it out to the recycling center.

“Now that we have the classrooms taken care of, we are looking forward to getting bins in the hallways and tackling the lunchroom,” Meurice said. “Even so, it’s really nice to see such concrete evidence that we are making a difference.”
