Hair Journeys: Stories of Our Crowns

People style, braid, twist, and cut their hair in all kinds of ways. The freedom to change one’s hair can be an important part of self-expression, as well as having a profound effect on a person’s self esteem. Everyone has a story about the time that they dyed their hair bright pink in seventh grade, or the time it all fell out after they got their first perm. The Little Hawk talked to several students at City High about the many experiences they have had with their hair and how it has changed as they have grown and what part their hair has played in the formation of their identities.
