When the speakers crackled to life in the middle of fifth period, students were taken aback to hear Mr. Bacon begin the announcement with a message to “stay calm.” Due to a situation in the community, City High was placed under a soft lockdown, preventing anybody from coming in the school. The students were reassured that they were safe and should continue with their days as usual.

A few minutes later, Bacon returned to the speaker to inform students that the concern was in response to an automated telephone threat that had been sent to schools across the nation, not targeting City High directly.

The lockdown will continue for the rest of the day, but all City students and staff members are safe.
