1 FILM REVIEW
The Irishman
Martin Scorsese show his talent once again in his breathtaking movie The Irishman. A sure classic, starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, and Bobby Cannavale. Already winning awards, The Irishman is one of Netflix’s biggest movies. The plot starts in 1950s spanning many years around the Philadelphia area. The story follows Frank Sheeran (Robert De Niro) a union worker, as he works his way into becoming a hitman for an organized crime family. As the movie begins you are introduced to Frank in a retirement home, now very aged as he tells his story. As the movie continues you become submerged into the com
plex plot of the world of a Crime Family. With characters that are exactly what you could expect from a movie about organized crime; they are dark and mysterious, well developed characters. They’re relatable in the sense that the goal is to provide and protect their families, which while slightly outdated in terms of gender roles for today, is still the basic theme of thousands of families around the world. Award buzz is already swarming around, it has already won New York Film Critics Circle Award For Best Film, and it will be a strong contender for the Oscars.
