Due to the recent outbreak of the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, the mock trial state tournament has been postposed. The date will be determined at a later time.

“It is unfortunate that we don’t know when it’s going to be,” said Rhys Holman ’20, an attorney on one of the teams that qualified for state. “It will make practicing difficult, and I also will have other commitments at that time which may be slightly inconvenient”

In the wake of the virus’ spread to the United States, many sporting events, concerts, and university classes have been postponed, cancelled, or moved online. Stocks have plummeted, and today President Trump declared the virus a national emergency. This allows greater amounts of funds to be mitigated to the crisis, and will also allow FEMA to coordinate efforts to stem contagion.
