What is your position at City High?

Natalee Swan, Assistant Principal

Who is your favorite woman in history?

Eleanor Roosevelt

What is your favorite quote from that person?

“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’ You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”

How are you a role model?

I try to be fearless and not shirk away from matters that are difficult.  If there is a job that needs to be done, I will do it.  Especially if it benefits the school or the students.  Outside of school, I do crazy things like run 100 miles in the mountains of California and Idaho or run from one side of the Grand Canyon to the other side and back again.  These things are challenging, painful, and scary.  By working through these tough events, I learn that nothing is impossible.  I want our Little Hawks to know that, too.  We can all accomplish anything we set our minds to do.

What impact do you want to leave on City High?

When my time at City High is done, I hope that I will be viewed as a strong female leader.  I hope to instill, in our Little Hawks, courage, and bravery; humility and kindness.  A kind word said will never hurt anyone.  A smile doesn’t cost anything.  Finally, I want all Little Hawks to know that Prince is the greatest artist of all time.
