Every year Best Buddies participates in a Friendship Walk, a statewide event that raises money for Best Buddies clubs. However, this year when the event was moved to a virtual setting, City High’s club held their own Friendship Walk at the Terry Trueblood Recreation Area. The event included a walk, with games and a celebration afterward.  

“This was our second in-person event this entire year, our last one was in October,” Club president, Stella Foster ‘21, said. “It was really nice, being able to see each other because we hadn’t seen each other in so long.”

Best Buddies has looked different this year, with the majority of their events being held online. Foster has worked to plan these online events, such as arts and crafts over Zoom. 

“We’ve tried to do a lot of things online, like Zoom events,” Foster said. “We just had trouble having people want to come to those, because people are in Zooms all day long, and then an additional Zoom is not ideal.”

As the school year finishes up, Best Buddies is looking forward to one more event, their end of year celebration that will be held at Terry Trueblood Recreation Area. 

“We’re gonna have lunch and rent paddleboards and stuff like that,” Foster said. “We want to have one last celebration with everyone before the school year ends.”
