In a new event, City High will host the “Powder-Aid” tailgate on the Wednesday of homecoming.

At around 5 p.m. students and especially clubs are invited to this new event in the upper lot where students will hang out and tailgate before the game. The classic parade was cancelled not due to covid but due to road closures around Iowa City.

Unlimited chili will be served for $5 at the PowderPuff game itself, but some “floats” at the Powder-Aid are planning on grilling out. Both the band and the PowderPuff teams are planning to make appearances to hype up and lead into the game.

The event will end with a march down to the field and around the track to officially open the game at 6 p.m.. Juniors and seniors keep your eyes and ears open because there are plans to fully reintroduce all the candidates for homecoming court during halftime.

Voting for homecoming king and queen will take place on Friday morning after the HoCo assemblies.
