State Basketball Brackets Released For Girls Basketball

After winning the Class 5A Region 6 Championship game against Linn-Mar the girl’s basketball team punched their ticket for the state tournament.

The first state tournament will take place on Monday, February 28th at 11:45 am. All of the tournaments are going to be played in the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. The girl’s team will first play Pleasant Valley at 11:45. Pleasant Valley has a record of 21-2 while City High’s record is 19-4. Depending on who wins the semifinals will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, March 3rd. The Championship game will take place at 6:00 pm on Friday, March 4th.

The girls are going to take on Pleasant Valley in the quarter-finals and then depending on who wins, will either play Johnston or Dowling Catholic in the semi-finals.

“We haven’t played PV before but we’re more familiar with other schools in the bracket. If we win against PV, I will have more confidence going into the future games.” Lauren Koch ’23 said. Koch is on the girl’s basketball team. “It will definitely be tough but I think we can do it.”
