Sophomores face Davenport North looking to move past .500

The City High sophomore football team is currently 2-2 and have scored a total of 111 points this season. Bobby Bacon, the starting quarterback, has thrown 10 touchdown passes and 1 rushing touchdown. Sophomore football team quarterback Bobby Bacon has been completing throws to wide receivers Iyon Harris, Trey Wright, and Jack Lampe throughout the season. Iyon Harris leading the receiver group with 250 yards on 16 receptions along with 3 touchdowns.

“Its been a lot of fun we have had our challenges but i feel like we’re learning and getting better each week” says Quarterback, Bobby Bacon.

But it hasn’t only been the passing game that has been keeping up the offense, the run game has also been very efficient with Dom Salibi and Gabe Egeland combining for 550 yards rushing in a total of 4 games this season. This Friday the young football team will face Davenport North at 5pm on City High’s home turf, Bates Field. 

“I’m excited to watch the game Friday night, I know the football players work hard and I’m hoping to see an action packed game against Davenport North” says City High student, Joseph Fullenkamp.

The sophomore football team will continue their season with games against Pleasant Valley on October 7th, Davenport West on October 14th, and to finish off the 2022 season they play Davenport Central on October 21st at Bates Field.
