This Monday and Tuesday in the Des Moines Veteran Memorial Auditorium the four City High Mock Trial teams who qualified for state tested their strengths against 28 other teams.

“This team has made this entire process so much more enjoyable and stress free. We all came together and presented a case we were really proud of. Everyone contributed something unique; our witnesses were engaging and presented hilarious characters. The attorney’s worked hard to aid our witnesses,” Josie Hermiston ‘24 said.

Sophomore team Triple ThreaTTT placed 8th overall in the competition, taking home a trophy for City High.

City High had two attorneys who received the Outstanding Attorney award; Veda Fitzpatrick and Esther Puderbaugh. City High also had three witnesses who received the Outstanding Witness award; Ash Bozarth, who played Dillion Tintreach, Brody Clarke, who also played Dillion Tintreach, and Leo Partridge, who played Leslie Knopf.

Anora Klauke ‘25, says, “Mock trial taught me how to take information and make arguments and ideas on the spot. The part I was most scared of at the start, cross-examination, ended up being my favoprite section by the end of the season.”
