Who Will Be Picked First in the 2023 NFL Draft
April 27, 2023
With the Carolina Panthers picking 1st overall after a blockbuster trade with the Chicago Bears (which included star receiver D.J Moore being sent to Chicago along with two 1st round selections and 2nd second round selections), Carolina being this bold and giving up their picks for the next two years almost certainly means they will be selecting a QB #1 overall.
The Panthers have four options at QB. Bryce Young from Alabama who had 32 touchdowns with only 5 interceptions this past season with a QBR of 86.2 (though there are questions about his size), CJ Stroud out of Ohio State who had 41 touchdowns and 6 picks with a QBR of 88.9, Anthony Richardson out of Florida with only 17 touchdowns and 9 interceptions, but who is one of the most athletic QB prospects ever; and Will Levis from Kentucky who had 19 touchdowns and 10 picks. Though his stats lack, he has all of the intangibles a NFL quarterback needs. The current favorite to go #1 is Bryce Young as he is the best all around QB in this draft, but there is more than one pick.
On the other end of the Bears-Panthers trade, the Bears have the 9th selection in the draft and are in desperate need of offensive/defensive lineman help. On the offensive line side, Paris Johnson Jr. out of Ohio State is a good option as he has a connection to Bears QB Justin Fields, and Johnson only gave up 2 sacks this past season. On the defensive side of the line Jalen Carter out of Georgia is a great option with 3 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. Carter would give the Bears their future at DT.
So tune in to the NFL Draft in only 24 hours to see many of the top college prospects become new stars on possibly your favorite NFL team with a new found pressure on them of being a team’s 1st round selection.
