An experienced Little Hawk football team started off the season 0-2, but they have a chance to get their first win at Ames in the Little Cy-Hawk game this Friday. Ames, who is also 0-2, looks to accomplish their first win with junior running back Jamison Poe leading their offense on the ground. Along with the struggles the Little Hawks have faced to start the season, the starting quarterback Drew Larson ‘24, is out with a broken thumb. Stepping in for Drew after injury is Bobby Bacon ‘25 who will get the start Friday night.
“You know there’s going to be a lot of pressure on my shoulders and I just have to execute,” Bacon said.
There are multiple key players to watch on Friday. The first player is Holden Clay ‘24 who leads 5A in tackles with 22.5 tackles through two games. The second player is Jeremiah Madlock ‘24 who leads the team in receiving yards with 160 yards on seven receptions. Another player is Bacon who is getting his first career varsity start. Bacon had 142 yards in the air with no interceptions after Larson went down. The last player is new transfer Miles Parlet ‘24 who plays both sides of the ball. He is most influential on the defensive side of the ball with 16 total tackles on the season.
“I really am looking forward to playing Ames and keeping the Cy-Hawk trophy in Iowa City,” Parlet said.
The game will start at 7:30 pm Friday night with the famous Little Cy-Hawk trophy on the line.
