City Football will travel to Bettendorf on Friday to take on the 7-1 Bettendorf Bulldogs in a pivotal matchup that has playoff implications. City looks to extend their win streak to 4 this week and secure a home playoff game. Last week, City High defeated Linn Mar in a shutout fashion 30-0. This win secured a playoff spot.
Miles Parlet ‘24 led the way with 150 yards on the ground to go with 2 touchdowns.
“It was really fun out there in the rain last week, but next week is a big one for us,” said Parlet.
Bettendorf is coming off a win against Prairie 35-8 and is hoping to improve their seeding. The keys to this game are Parlet keeping it going on the ground as he averages 209 yards a game – the run is very important to City’s success.
City is also trying to add a weapon by the name of Drew Larson ‘24. Larson was the quarterback at the start of the year, broke his thumb, and is now recovered and wants to catch some passes as wide receiver from current quarterback Bobby Bacon ‘25. This adds a whole dimension to City’s attack as they can now line him up anywhere on the field, from special teams to defense, and now any position on offense. The team seems to be trending up at the right time as the playoffs are fast approaching.
