City High traveled to Bettendorf last Friday and took care of business, winning 42-21. Quarterback Bobby Bacon ‘25 threw for 336 yards on 85% completion to go along with three touchdowns. Running Back Miles Parlet ‘24 had 132 rushing yards on 28 carries and 50 receiving yards on two catches. To go along with a strong offensive performance, City also won the turnover battle, recording two interceptions – one from Drew Larson ‘24 and one from junior Dominic Salibi ‘25.
“When we as a defense can get turnovers it makes life easier for the offense so when I am able to get a pick it feels great,” said Salibi.
This win put City at the 12th seed and they will travel to Bettendorf once again this Friday, October 27, for a playoff matchup. Some keys that the Little Hawks need to repeat to win again this week are limiting turnovers and continuing the success they found in the air last week. In order for Bettendorf to win, they can’t turn the ball over like last game and need to be more aggressive from the start.
