Last week, City High brought home a gold and silver at the State Economics Challenge. With the gold, the champion team obtains the right to qualify for the National Economics Challenge in New York.
On Thursday, April 1, The University of Northern Iowa’s Economics Department hosted the State Economics Challenge Competition. Three City High teams took up the 4 spots in their division. Dubuque Hepstead team claimed the other sport. The Competition takes four teams from two divisions to compete to determine the state champion. City High took first, second, and fourth at the competition. Team Keynes consisting of Ajay Gupta, Jeff Haidri, Lucas Ovrom, and Chris Robertson placed first over all taking the title and the right to compete for the Nationals on April 26. The top six teams nationwide will earn a trip to New York to compete in the National Championship. The top six teams are judged by test scores that are taken before April 26.
“I’m just excited that we have the privilege to compete at this level with other teams for these Titles,” says Junior Jeff Haidri.
