Coming off an 8-15 season, and a sub-state loss against Waterloo East, the Little Hawks Boys Basketball Team has a lot of roles to fill.
This offseason, one of City High’s best players last season, Samuel M’Bingazo transferred to Bishop Alemany in California. Along with his departure, City High lost quite a few starters from their senior class including Thomas Ksobeich, Shamar Benton, and Evan Lampe (‘23) who were all pivotal parts of the team last year. Another lost piece of the team was senior Matt Schaeckenbach (‘23) who brought energy off the bench for the team.
“I feel like we made improvements from last year and made progress that this young team needed,” Jameer James ‘24 said.
To open up the season, the team hosts Burlington, a team that upset them in their home opener last year away. The game will take place on Tuesday, November 28th. Other important games this season are at home against Liberty High on December 15th and at West High on December.
“I’m feeling optimistic about the season, I think we’ve been working really well together and we have a lot of chemistry,” Parker Sutherland ‘25 said.
