After a gritty 40-39 win against the Trojans, the Little Hawks will have a short week and travel to Cedar Rapids to take on Kennedy on Thursday. With City High now 2-2, they are looking to climb above .500 against a 1-3 Kennedy team. Kennedy started the year off 0-3 and got their first win last week over Cedar Rapids Washington, 28-14.
Seniors Bobby Bacon and Dom Salibi remain key players for the Little Hawks, Bacon threw 16/17 for 256 yards and 2 Touchdowns. Salibi on the other hand has been doing his work on the ground, rushing for 93 yards and 2 touchdowns on 19 carries in last week’s win.
Some of Kennedy’s key players will be senior quarterback Vinny Gianforte who was 9/14 with 61 yards and a touchdown. Perhaps the biggest pieces of their offense are running backs Jacob Doyle ‘25 and Damarion Orr ‘27, this duo combined for 36 carries with 202 yards and 1 touchdown.
Coming off a game where City’s defense let up 39 points and four passing touchdowns, Safety Davion Luckett ‘26 says, “I want to see what the defense can do this week to reduce the points scored against us.” This week’s match up will provide a little more fire for the Cougars with it being their homecoming game.
