City High faced cross-town rivals, the Trojan Bolts, which is a joint team made up of both West and Liberty swimmers, at their home pool, Mercer Park Aquatic Center, on Senior Night. They honored seniors Drew Brown, George Karr, Pierce Cummings, Woody Rogers, Adam Schaefer, and Seth Yoder before the meet started.
The team fell to West 36-121. However, there were still notable moments, such as Phillip Berry-Stoelzle ’26 winning the 50Y freestyle, with a time of 23:49, and Braydon Calonder ’26 getting 2nd place in the 200Y freestyle, with a personal best time of 1:53.52.
The Little Hawks also hope to send a team of their best to the upcoming IHSAA [Boys] State Swimming Championships, which will be held on February 14th & 15th at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center, in downtown Iowa City.
