This year’s districts will take place at Jefferson High School. The Little Hawks have a very balanced team this year with a lot of wrestlers having very successful seasons and facing good competition.
106 – Jack Litton
Jack Litton is coming off a muscular injury in the arm but has wrestled a lot of good competition. This is Jack’s first year but he has been wrestling for a long time but has high goals for the end of the season and could find his way into the state tournament. “This season has had its ups and downs but overall has been a season filled with great memories and I have learned a lot.” Litton ‘28 said.
113 – Breckin Morrison
Breckin is on a huge cut currently cut from 135 pounds and has made his way down to 113 throughout the season. Breckin has a tough bracket at districts this year but needs to make the top 3 to make it in. “I feel that my season has gone pretty good and I would say my goals ahead of state and districts are of course making it to state but I feel this is a huge step in the right direction for not wrestling at all last year because of injury.” Morrison ‘27 said.
120 – Kendall Kurtz
Kendall Kurtz is the high favorite to win districts this year and won districts last year along with that. Kendall has had a breakout year after beating a ranked wrestler in the conference finals proving he can truly compete with the best of the best and he looks to place high at state as well. Kendall placed 8th at state last year and is currently ranked 4th at 120 lbs. “This season I have been more consistent and confident in my wrestling, as I have beat some top-ranked guys. My offseason work has shown as I won MVCs for the first time, and am looking to earn another district title. I have been working towards placing higher at state as I am feeling good with how I am competing.” Kurtz ‘25 said.
126 – Chase Williams
Chase has had a productive rookie season having a winning record and having some good matches like when he came back from being down 13-0 and coming back and winning by 1 point. Chase could make his way into the state tournament and possibly make it far too.
132 – Chris Davis
Chris is a 2-time state qualifier and is looking to get to state for his 3rd year straight. Although Chris has made state twice already he does have a tough bracket with 2 ranked wrestlers being in it. Chris has had a pretty even record having just about as many wins as losses at a much bigger weight for him. “Not the way I’ve wanted it to go but through all the losses I have I’ve learned and gotten better and now looking to get top 3 at districts then go take one match at a time at state.” Davis ‘26 said.
138 – Donovan Gipson
Donovan, the transfer in from Chicago has made a big impact for the team since coming back from his elbow injury. He has had a lot of wins for the team and has been very productive in tournaments along with that. Gipson along with Kurtz, is one of the high favorites on this team to make it to state and do much more with that being.
144 – Alex Holmes
Holmes ‘26 has been a very solid wrestler this year even though he is giving up a lot of weight. This is his first year as a varsity starter and has improved a lot with the new experience he is getting from that. Holmes hasn’t started all year as he started the year on JV but worked his way up to deserve the spot at 144 lbs.
150 – Laith Alawneh
Laith is currently in his first year as a varsity starter and has proved his point pretty well. Laith has had a lot of wins this year and has improved every year throughout his high school career and gets better and better throughout the season and has the potential to make it to state and have an inspiring story for others with the hard work and education he put into to uphold this. “I think I’ve done pretty good so far, every day is an improvement and I’m always visualizing no matter the win or loss. Right now I’m looking forward to doing well at districts and state, not worrying about seedings or records, just going out with a fight.”Alawneh ‘25 said.
157 – Jude Seebeck
Jude is another first-year varsity starter and went up 2 weight classes from last year and has been solid at the new weight. Seebeck is starting to pull things together heading towards the end of the season and you wouldn’t wanna count him out on making it to state. “The season has been tough dealing with injuries and sickness but other than that it’s been a good season. I’d say that my goals for the rest of the season are to stay focused and ready for districts.” Seeback ‘26 said.
165 – Marshall Sheldon
Sheldon who hasn’t wrestled since early 2023 before this season has also had a very productive season having a winning record and placing at most of the tournaments he attended. Marshall who recently won freshman of the year for football is an up-and-coming athlete and City High and has the potential to be one of the best athletes to come out of City High. Sheldon has experience at state in the past, making it to AAU state multiple times and winning twice, and could give Sheldon a good shot at making it to state.
175 – Mason Tilley
Tilley ‘25 is coming off a very strong junior year, making it to state and getting better by the week. Tilley this year has put on a lot of muscle and that has shown in his matches this year with his strength being a huge factor in his matches and leading him to success and a winning record and also being ranked 10th. Tilley has made his case that he could make it to state proving that to people on the mat and with his strength and determination.
190 – Blaine Heick
Blaine who is coming off a gap year from wrestling and is back for his junior year just 4 weight classes heavier this time and has had a breakout year. Heick has had a very good record and is doing well at tournaments too. Blaine has a lot of potential when it comes to the sport of wrestling and could smoothly stroll his way into the state tournament and place. “I would say I had a good season for taking a year off last year and battling some injuries towards the end of the year so just getting my body right before districts is my main goal.” Heick ‘26 said.
215 – Raphael Etuma
Etuma who is currently ranked 9th has had a great season. Etuma has improved his style and technique a lot this season, has a winning record along with the other heavier weights, and fell short last year of state in the 3rd place match just getting 4th but looks to get his revenge this year and prove he can show out at state. “The season started a lot better than I thought I would, at the beginning of the season I didn’t believe that I had what it took to have even a decent season this year but as I started wrestling tougher opponents in close matches and not doing so bad I had more confidence that I had it in me to beat anyone. And that’s the attitude I’m going into districts with and state and also into track season and my senior year of high school.” Etuma ‘26 said.
285 – Kane Willey
Kane is a transfer from Wilton who made state for them last year and is currently ranked 12th at 285. Willey who is the Little Hawks heavyweight is giving up a solid 70 pounds weighing in at 215. Willey may be giving up a lot of weight but that doesn’t affect the outcome of his season and how he’s performed so far. Kane is coming off winning the conference tournament and looks to win districts with that and place high at state. “My season has gone very up and down from trying to fight a weight that fit for me to compete at best but my goals for districts are to win it all as I’m the only ranked kid in my bracket and for the state, I believe I can place at least a top 5 finish or higher.” Willey ‘26 said.
Overall the Little Hawks could end up doing well at districts and having that translate to state.
