As representatives of the school, Student Senate president Nicholas Tran ‘25 and vice president Ania Naso ‘25 go to school board meetings, which are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, to show what City High students and organizations have accomplished.
“Mock trial got fifth and second at state,” Alma Bhandary-Narayanan ‘26 said.
The adviser of student senate, Steve Tygrett spoke on the accomplishments of the year as well.
“We pulled off a special spring carnival and volleyball tournament attended by over 300 students,” Steve Tygrett said.
After discussing notes for the school board meeting, Student Senate moved on to prom planning and references to the food from two years ago.
“We had a cheese tray; we had a fruit tray. Pretzel bites were a bad idea because they didn’t stay warm, so I wouldn’t recommend that. Brownies, mini cupcakes, and frostings,” Steve Tygrett said.
At prom, there will also be a photo booth with Polaroids and underclassmen photographers.
“We need to get at least two volunteers, you know, and they can be underclassmen that will let in for free,” said Tygrett. “It is busy because everybody wants their Polaroid, so it’s pretty crazy, but if we had a couple that would be nice, because we only had one girl doing it last year.”
