With prom only a week and a half away, almost all details have been finalized and conversations have moved to costs. The total will be around $7,000, including the DJ, food, the venue, and decorations.
“We’re going to be in the $10,000 range [from tickets],” Tygrett said. “We’re probably in the $7,000 range [for prom costs].”
Though the prom for 2025 has yet to happen, planning for 2027 has already begun. Because the Iowa Memorial Union (IMU) fills up quickly, it needs to be booked two years in advance.
“Right after prom is over on May 3, probably the following week, we will sign a contract and pay $2,800 for the IMU 2027,” Melanie Gibbens said. “They are super busy, and so May 1 should have been like the first Saturday in May. They can’t do it that day.”
Student Senate also continued discussions about the elections, which will be held the week after AP testing ends. The speeches will be held during the second period in the latter half of that week to avoid early dismissals because of sports.
