This week The Little Hawks are facing the Trojans of Waterloo East. Waterloo East, after going 5-5 last year, is expected to be much better this year, as they are loaded with athletes at several positions. The Trojans quarterback, Desmond Van Arsdale, is a Division I level athlete and is being looked at by Iowa and Iowa State. His combination of speed and throwing ability makes a tough challenge for The Little Hawk defense.
“We need to work on containing the quarterback and keeping him inside and in front of us,” Daren Jones ‘13 said. “He is so fast that we can’t let him get outside of us or he will run all over the place.”
The Little Hawks are 1-1 and look to continue their winning streak after beating Waterloo West 49-19. The Little Hawk squad is looking pretty healthy this week. Amos Lavela 13’ will be back on the field after sitting out last game with concussion-like symptoms. Quarterback Tyler Stika ’13 is the only question, as he rolled his right ankle in practice Wednesday. He will be a game time decision. The student theme for the game is neon. The sophomore game begins at 5:00 pm with the varsity game to follow. Come watch The Little Hawks at Bates Field!
