As the end of the year approaches, the time for the Iowa High School Press Association’s conference at the Iowa Memorial Union is here. The Little Hawk travelled to the IMU this thursday, looking forward to a day of informative and exciting workshops.
“I really enjoyed the IGN workshop,” Will Lubaroff, Staff Reporter said. “All the kids there just seemed like normal high school students.”
Workshop topics ranged from Newsroom Management to Investigative Reporting, with a total of about 50 workshops overall. The usual awards ceremony closed the conference, where students from all over Iowa received recognition for their work. The Little Hawk received 3rd place for Writing in Class B, and 3rd place for Photography in Class B. Co-Executive Editor Cassie Wassink also won the annual Writing Contest.
“I learned that it is impossible for us to get sued,” Kieran Green, Editorial Editor said. “It was a good time.”
