At the Sherwood Relays, Ellie Fraga placed first in the long jump, jumping 16 feet, eight inches, and placed first in the 4×400 relay. She also placed second in the 100 and 200-meter races. A finish that placed her in the Press-Citizen’s Athlete of the Week. Voting continues through Thursday, April 3rd at 8 p.m..
Q&A with Ellie Fraga:
Q: How has the beginning of track season been?
A: It’s been really great we’ve became a much more competitive team, running faster times and scoring in meets.
Q:What events do participate in? Do you have a favorite?
A: I run the 100m, 200m, 400m, and I also long jump. The 100 meter or 200 meter is my favorite by far because it’s such a fast race.
Q: What is your favorite part about track season?
A: My favorite part is competing against myself but also getting to run with friends in relays or in practice.
Q: Are you excited to be nominated for athlete of the week this early in the season?
A: Yes, our team has been working really hard so it’s fun to see it pay off, especially early in the season.
Q: Do you have any long/short term goals for this season?
A: One of our team goals is to qualify as much as possible for state and I”d also like to individually qualify for state.
Q: How has your sophomore season been different from your freshman season thus far?
A: I’m much more physically prepared coming into sophomore year compared to freshman year and we’ve become a lot stronger as a team.
